types of problems do you address in counseling?
Counseling is available for any struggles you may be facing
– marriage, parenting, conflict, grief, addiction, depression, anxiety, anger,
etc. We believe the Bible provides
guidance and instruction not only for faith, but also for the practical issues
of life and relationships (2 Peter 1:3, Romans 15:4). Our counseling is based on biblical principles
rather than those of secular psychology or psychiatry. This ministry does not provide professional
Who are the counselors?
The counselors at RBCM consist of trained pastors and lay
people certified, or in the process of being certified, by the Association
of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC) (see http://www.biblicalcounseling.com for more information).
The counseling sessions are provided at no cost to members
of the community and to attenders/members of Riverbend as it is a ministry of
Riverbend Community Church. If you have
benefited from counseling and wish to contribute to the ongoing needs of the
counseling ministry, donations can be made at www.riverbendchurch.org under the “GIVE” tab.
is counseling available?
Counseling is scheduled through the church office by
appointment only. Days and hours vary depending on the counselor’s schedule.
However, our aim is to begin your counseling as soon as possible.
long will the counseling last?
Counseling sessions typically last about one hour, although
the first session is often longer.
Sometimes, depending on the problem, it may only be necessary to meet
for one or two sessions. Other times, counseling may extend for a number of
weeks, but generally not more than a few months on one particular issue.
Counseling sessions and information on the intake form is
kept in very strict confidence. The
counselor reserves the right to discuss the details of your sessions, while
keeping your identity anonymous, with supervisors for the purpose of
accreditation and improvements in care.
However, confidentiality is not offered in the following circumstances:
- Suicidal planning or
signs of suicidal intent
- Child or elder abuse
or violent intent toward others

You will be expected to show a desire to grow and change and
to be honest with your counselor. You may be required to complete homework
assignments between sessions to implement and foster progress. There may also
be a minimal expense involved in the purchase of books or other resources that
your counselor may recommend.

Before we schedule your counseling session, we require two

first counseling session.
2. Click here to access the Personal Data Inventory. Please print it out, complete it, and return Carina (firstname.lastname@example.org) prior to your first scheduled session or bring it with you.
3. Please plan to arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled time.
