Jason Williams was born and raised in Sumter, SC. He has resided in Lexington for 18 years with his wife, Becky. They have been married for 18 years and have five amazing kids: Anna Grace, Thomas, Andrew, Abigail and Eleanor.
Jason is the Lead Pastor at RCC and loves the people at Riverbend. “The greatest part about working here is seeing what God is doing in the lives of His people and what He is doing in Riverbend Community Church,” he says. One of Jason’s favorite passages comes from John 14:1-3, “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.”
When Jason isn’t at work, you can find him hanging out with his family, working on his old Jeep, and crushing pickleballs on the pickleball court.
Wayne Terry grew up in Inman, SC and moved to Lexington in 2008. He is newly married to Donna for just over a month. Combined, Donna and Wayne have six kids: Ben, Josh, Sarah, Caleb, Katherine, and Emily.
Wayne serves as the Executive Pastor and Disciple-Making Coordinator at Riverbend. Wayne says, “From the first time I experienced worship at RCC, I sensed the heart for loving God and spiritual depth of the church. It is so refreshing to be part of a group of people who truly desire to love God passionately. Wayne has been in ministry for over 35 years serving as collegiate minister, pastor; church planter, and denominational executive.
His favorite verse comes out of Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
When Wayne isn’t at work or hanging out with his family, he enjoys reading a good book and hiking in the mountains!
Nate Bowen grew up in Fayetteville, Georgia before attending Toccoa Falls College in Northeast Georgia. He and his family have lived in Lexington since October of 2017.. Nate has been married to Ally and they have two beautiful children, Avery Grace and Maddox.
Nate serves as the Student Ministry Director at Riverbend. He says his favorite part of working at RCC is getting to build strong, authentic relationships with the students and the men at the church. The people are genuine, and he loves serving on the worship team and being part of an amazing team. Nate's life verse comes out of Galatians 2:20- “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
When Nate isn’t hanging out with the youth group, he enjoys working out, watching sports, and taking his family to Pelicans for a delicious snowcone!
Jean is originally from Darlington, SC but moved to Lexington 33 years ago. She has been married to Jay Croft for 31 years. They have three adult children: Rachel, Ben, and Anna.
She serves as Riverbend’s Accountant and hss been serving with RCC since 2003. Jean’s favorite part about working with Riverbend is the staff, elders, and members of the church. Her favorite scripture comes from Philippians 4:6-7, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
When Jean isn’t working with numbers and money, you can find her baking, reading a good book, and going for a run.
Kirsten Ellison is originally from Sumter, SC. She and her husband Billy have been married for 3 years and have a dog named Scout. They recently moved from Charleston SC to become part of the Riverbend family.
Kirsten serves as Riverbend’s Children’s Ministry Director. She earned degrees in Government and Spanish at Wofford College in 2015. After college, Kirsten joined Teach for America and served as a first grade teacher in a Title 1 school for 5 years. She is most excited to work alongside families in developing the next generations of disciples. Her favorite Bible verse is John 15:9-10 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as l have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love.”
When Kirsten isn’t at work, you can find her cooking, spending time with Billy, walking Scout or sipping a cup of coffee.
Karen Hart grew up in Columbia, SC. She and her husband, Charlie have been married for 35 years and have 2 adult children, Christopher and Caroline. They recently moved from Mount Pleasant, SC where they lived for the last 19 years.
Karen serves as Riverbend's Preschool Director. She is excited to be a new member of the staff and to see how God is going to use her to lead the preschool. One of her favorite Scripture passages is from Romans 8:38-39 "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
When Karen isn't working at the preschool, she enjoys family time, reading, sewing, gardening, and hanging out with her dogs, Maddie and Holly.
Mitz Harrison grew up as a missionary kid but spent her early years in Dover, Ohio. She has been in Lexington for 22 years with her husband, Bruce. Mitz and Bruce have been married for 37 years. They have three adult children; Ashley, Justin, and Kaylee.
Mitz serves Riverbend as the Office Manager. She says her favorite part about working at the church is working with the staff each week. Her favorite verse is from Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
When Mitz isn't at the church office, she enjoys baking, gardening, and organizing stuff. (which the staff can agree she is great at!)
David Rios serves Riverbend as one of our worship leaders on staff. He is married to Cassie Rios, and they have four children together. They have been serving Riverbend since 2010 in variety of roles. David also oversees our "Riverbend Prays and Praise" evenings on the last Friday of each month.
David is originally from Peru but was raised in Belize on the mission field with his family. David works full-time as the Dean of Technology & Pre-Engineering at Ben Lippen School and teaches for the Middle & High School.
When David isn't working on robotics, he enjoys spending time with his family, working as a wedding videographer, and playing his guitar.
Randy Wilson is originally from New Orleans. He and his wife, Lynn, have lived in downtown Columbia for the past 31 years. Randy and Lynn have three adult children; Anna (25), Caleb (23), Sarah Beth (21).
Randy wears several hats as he serves as an Elder, RCC's Worship Leader, and is a part of the preaching team as Teaching Pastor. Randy enjoys being practically involved in Kingdom ministry. He loves leading people into God’s presence in musical worship. He also loves creatively teaching God’s word with a shepherd’s heart. One thing he has asked from the LORD, that I shall seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD, and to meditate in His temple. (Psalm 27:4)
When Randy isn't too busy with work or church responsibilities, you can find him enjoying cycling, kayaking, playing guitar, reading, and picking on drummers named “Nate-Dawg!”
